1. Abstract
Introduction: The riverside population of the Amazon is characterized by riversides, stilt houses, without basic sanitation, erosion and silting, as well as suffering from a lack of access to health prevention services due to distance and lack of financial conditions, making them unfamiliar with the importance of oral hygiene and its connection with the easier functioning of the organism as a whole.
Objective: The objective of this study was to know and how
the riverside communities see oral health, as well as what they are most
common, but there are requirements for the maintenance of a quality in oral
health.
Method: Experience Report. A descriptive study, with a
qualitative approach, targeting 99 dwellers from the riverside communities of
the interior of the state of amapaense, being the Lontra da Pedreira, Abacate
da Pedreira, APA do Curiaú and Casa Grande,
during the months of March and April 2017.
Results: It was noted that assisted communities do not have access to dental care or health promotion actions; they are governmental or academic in nature, leaving them marginalized in terms of access to information. And because of this exclusion, they are unaware of the importance of correct brushing, an important one of the use of dental floss or the use of plastic bags in the interproximal teeth and are unaware of the connection between oral health and organic health in general. They are not yet present, although, as populations assisted, in circumstances as complex as more sophisticated, and so on.
Conclusion: Due to a lack of knowledge and limited information, these communities are not essential for the return of health, thus requiring social and governmental work towards them, not only for curative purposes but also for informing them of the importance of prevention and how to prevent it correctly.
