Aims and Scope

The aim of Current Trends in Forest Research is to promote and disseminate high-quality research on forest ecology, management, conservation, and restoration. Our journal covers a wide range of topics related to forest science, including:

• Forest dynamics: the study of the changes in forest structure and composition over time, including natural disturbances such as fires, storms, and insect outbreaks, as well as human-induced changes such as land use change and logging.

• Forest ecology: the study of the interactions between forest ecosystems and their biotic and abiotic environments, including topics such as plant-animal interactions, nutrient cycling, carbon sequestration, and ecosystem services.

• Forest management: the development and implementation of strategies for the sustainable use and management of forest resources, including topics such as forest inventory, silviculture, forest certification, and forest products.

• Forest conservation: the protection and preservation of forest ecosystems and their biodiversity, including topics such as protected areas, wildlife management, and forest restoration.

• Forest restoration: the process of restoring degraded or deforested areas to functional forest ecosystems, including topics such as ecological restoration, reforestation, and afforestation.

• Forest economics: the study of the economic aspects of forest management and conservation, including topics such as forest valuation, market analysis, and forest-based livelihoods.

• Forest policy: the development and implementation of policies and regulations related to forest management and conservation, including topics such as forest governance, REDD+ and other climate change policies, and international agreements on forests.

• Climate change and forests: the impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems and the role of forests in mitigating and adapting to climate change, including topics such as forest carbon dynamics, climate-smart forestry, and forest-based climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.

• Biodiversity: the study of the diversity of life in forest ecosystems and its conservation, including topics such as species richness, endemism, and the ecological roles of species in forest ecosystems.

We welcome submissions from all regions of the world and from a variety of disciplines, including forestry, ecology, biology, geography, economics, and social sciences. Our goal is to provide a platform for scientists, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to share their knowledge and expertise and contribute to advancing our understanding of forest ecosystems and their sustainable management and conservation.
